4th Grade music
Since October, students have been learning to read notes on a musical staff by playing simple songs on the recorder. It is very exciting to see how they have progressed since last fall! They are now playing songs using 5 different notes, D, E, G, A, and B. As you may know, the students have earned 'recorder karate belts' for each song they have played successfully. All of the students are in a mad dash to be the first to pass the blue belt, the 6th belt in the sequence. So far most students have passed their white, yellow, orange and green belts and are working hard for their red belt. Thanks for supporting your students in their recorder practice at home! I know beginning recorder may not be the most pleasant sound in the world, but it is music to my ears, because I hear students successfully transferring the fundamental musical skills they have learned over the years to a musical instrument.
